Finale: No More Perioral Dermatitis

on June 23, 2016

Hello again everyone!

I guess you could say that for now, this is the final installment of the dermatitis updates. It has been a while since my initial post and then the follow up, but sometimes life gets in the way of blogging! There haven’t been any major revelations over the last couple months, just lots of healing! As I’m wrapping up the last few days of the 3-month cycle of doxycycline, I decided to jot down a few thoughts for you all:

1 – Eliminate stress. Easier said than done, but it takes such a toll on your body.

2 – Treat problems early. As I mentioned in my initial post, I tried to treat this incorrectly for about a month before even calling the dermatologist. By the time I could get into the doctor I was miserable and much of the pain could have been prevented with an accurate diagnosis.

3 – Use targeted skincare. If you are a regular reader, you know that good skincare is a priority for me. It becomes even more of a priority when you have to address a specific issue. Finding some (of the right) treatments for the problem in addition to the antibiotics really helped reduce the pain and inflammation quickly.

Thanks for sticking with me through this – I hope you have found this series to be informational and interesting. It has been a long 3 months and I’m really looking forward to moving on and hopefully keeping this at bay!
Have a great weekend!
