A New Day

Taking a look at all of the things I've been missing

Weekly Favorites – part 11

on November 23, 2014

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you all had a fantastic week and are looking forward to a long holiday weekend in the States! This is a 2-day work week for me so I am really excited to sleep in a bit and catch up with all of my family and friends visiting the area this weekend.

This past week was soooo cold – like 11F cold. It is definitely time to break out the cold weather reinforcements – gloves, hats, extra hydration. You know…

Thistle Farms Inspiration Healing Oil and Lip Smoothie – while traveling last week in Tennessee, I discovered the Thistle Farms products and was so taken by the story that I had to pick up a couple items in the shop and immediately go online to see what I could ship home. Thistle Farms employs women who have been victims of human trafficking, overcome addiction and prostitution. I can’t say enough amazing things about Magdalene, the parent organization and Thistle Farms. Go visit the website and like them on Facebook.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate (affiliate link) – if you have been following my blog over the last year, you may have read my ode to this product. I’ve been searching all over for the travel eye-dropper size for months and finally tracked it down. This has been an absolute essential item in my nightly routine for the last year and my skin really suffers when I don’t have it after a long flight. I noticed it even more in the cold this past week. You can find this at Nordstrom in the 1oz size for $46 or 1.7oz for $70.

Diptyque L’Ombre dans l’Eau Perfume Oil Roll-On – oh my. I’ve gone off the ledge, folks. I’ve always admired the brand and have received some of the body products as gifts. But the perfume oil is a force to be reckoned with. First of all, this scent is intoxicating- black currant leaves and Bulgarian Roses. It is a little masculine, but I think that is what I love about it. This dark scent is such a departure from my clean and light floral scents. Since this is a perfume oil, a little goes a long way. I applied this around 7 am and could still pick up the scent 12 hours later. I went with the rollerball, which is about $50-$55, and the price goes up steeply from there. This was purchased at Merz Apothecary in Chicago and you can shop their amazing online store here.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream – this came in last fall/winter’s Allure box. I discussed it earlier in the year here as a cold weather go-to. My hands get so cracked and dry once the temperatures drop and this has been one of the few things to really make a difference. You can find this in a 2oz tube for $12 or the much better deal in the 6oz jar for $28, at your local Sephora.

Again, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday week!
