A New Day

Taking a look at all of the things I've been missing

September Julep Maven Box

on September 21, 2014

Happy September, mavens!

So I went a little out of the norm and went for all products in the Art Walk collection. And I’m so glad I did! This box is chock full of amazing stuff!

Dry Clean Invisible Dry Shampoo (3oz) – ok… there is no description on the website. I mean I can’t even find the product on the website… So, um dry shampoo. It has a nice clean scent and goes on very light. I felt as though it absorbed oil nicely and didn’t leave any residue. It wasn’t long-lasting though – probably 8 hours at the most.

Elixir (1oz) – um, also not on the website. But this was the product that sealed the deal on this particular box. I was just about to splurge on some Josie Marana Argan Oil and this came in just in the knick of time. It is unscented and lightweight, just as any good argan oil should be, right?

Nail Polish (cause no box would be complete without it)

Kendra – Army green frost

Haven’t tried this yet, but that isn’t a very sexy description…

Freedom Polymer Topcoat:

Features & Benefits:

  • Quick-dry formula cures smudge-free under natural light in just five minutes; no UV light required
  • Perfecting polymer force field smoothes brush strokes and imperfections, leaving a high-gloss, gel-like finish
  • Gel-like shine without gel removal hassle
  • Comes off with any nail polish remover
  • ‘4-free’ formula contains no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, or DBP
  • For best results, use every other day and seal your free edges with each application.

I already have one of these – I might share this one with a friend. This is a nice topcoat, but I really prefer the Sally Hansen Hard as Nails.

Plush Pout Lip Crayon in Almond Nude Crème (.07oz) –

What it is:
A full-coverage lip crayon with a moisturizing treatment core in the middle.

What it does:

  • Rich, creamy formula glides on and delivers long-lasting color with a semigloss finish
  • Antioxidant-rich oils, sunflower wax, and vitamin E keep lips hydrated and happy

This is a smooth, lightweight colored balm/sheer crayon. At first glance, it looks very similar to the Nivea A Kiss of Care and Color balm. The color is much richer and lasts a couple hours. The scent is this tasty vanilla/almond scent but does not have and discernible flavor.

This month’s breakdown: I couldn’t find prices or even some of the actual items on the website… The Plush Pout Crayon was $20 ($16 for Mavens, nail polish $14 ($11.20 for Mavens), polymer topcoat ins $18 ($14.40 for Mavens). The ArtWalk box was $24.99 ($19.99 plus the additional $4.99 for one add on) for products valued at $???.  I used a combination of points and cash this month, bringing my out of pocket cost to $15.99.

If you are interested in subscribing to Julep,  please feel free to use my referral code and don’t forget the FREE BOX code to get your first subscription box free. Month to month pay as you go Maven boxes will run $24.99, or you can make a three-month commitment and get a reduced price of $19.99/month.

So I already made the decision to skip next month. I wasn’t in love with the colors and would rather blow the rest of my points on holiday colors. Thoughts? What did you think of September?

  1. […] Dry Clean Invisible Dry Shampoo – this was one of the items in my September Maven box. My initial feedback was that it lasted about 8 hours and I would agree with that still. This is […]
