A New Day

Taking a look at all of the things I've been missing

An Afternoon with Le Métier de Beauté

on June 16, 2014

On a recent trip to Chicago, I found myself in the Michigan Ave. Neiman Marcus. Next thing you know, I’m sitting down with Le Métier de Beauté artist and product specialist, Tess Iandola. Let me state that this is definitely a little out of my comfort zone cost-wise… however, what girl doesn’t love a luxury product here and there? I didn’t go in looking for trouble, but Tess helped me get there. 😉

Look at all of these gorgeous products!

We talked about all of the LMdB products, the brushes and techniques. While I studied makeup many years ago, I know I still have much to learn – a new trick or technique that is exciting and fun. And let’s be honest, there’s some attention that needs to be paid to age appropriateness… I realize the colors and techniques that maybe worked in my 20’s don’t accentuate the positive (or hide the negative!) of 30+.

To even out my skin tone and refresh my face after a crazy travel day, Tess started with the Peau Vierge Correcteur Concealer in Shade 1 and the Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe Tinted Treatment also in Shade 1. Oh my goodness…. in just a few brush strokes, these two miracle workers smoothed my skin and evened out my color – dark circles, red spots, everything. The look was set with Visage de Soie Finishing Powder in Shade 1. After a bit, I realized I should probably take a few photos for the blog. So here we have a beautiful, even skin tone:

Next up, Tess added some Radiance Powder Rouge – she used the shade in the middle, on the bottom and I didn’t catch the name! It was such a beautiful shade… I really should have picked that up.. next time?

Ugh, iPhone photos do not do this justice…

Then, a little bronzer. And I’m a fool with bronzer… no matter how I apply, I always just look dirty. Tess did some amazing contouring with the Sun Kissed shade without making my skin look dirty or smudgy. So ooh, on to the eyes! We used the True Color Eye Shadow in Tuscan Sunset, Nutmeg (?), Crushed Ice and Platinum (clockwise from the top), Dualistic Eye Pencil in Noir (lower lids) and Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Noir (upper lids).

The look was finished off with the Dualistic Lip Liner in Nudité, Hydra-Crème Lipstick in Sahara and topped off with the Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss in Brilliant, a clear, hydrating gloss.

Let’s just say that I’m officially a LMdB fan for life. I took home the Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe Tinted Treatment also in Shade 1, Dualistic Lip Liner in Nudité, Hydra-Crème Lipstick in Sahara and the Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss in Brilliant. I was really excited to find out that the gift with purchase that day was the Precision Liquid Eyeliner in Noir, a $42 value!

Here’s the interesting tidbit about this brand. Aside from social media, there is no marketing. Le Métier de Beauté  products are sold at select Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus stores and the company relies strictly on word of mouth and bloggers to spread the word.

From the Neiman Marcus website:

About Le Métier de Beauté:
Le Métier de Beauté (which translates to “the craft of beauty”) is known for its award-wining Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe. The line also features stunning makeup and has collaborated with couture and ready-to-wear designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig of Marchesa on a fashion-inspired color collection.

If you are in Chicago and want to test out some of these amazing products, schedule a time with Tess at the Michigan Avenue location. She has a very extensive knowledge of not just the LMdB line, but so many others including Kiehl’s and Fresh and can make some great skincare recommendations for your specific concern.

Have you tried Le Métier de Beauté? What are your thoughts?
