A New Day

Taking a look at all of the things I've been missing

Giving Julep Another Chance

on December 9, 2013

I decided against my better judgment to take advantage of the first month free Julep Maven box. Oh bother. Many moons ago, I purchased a shade called Nora – a sparkly, matte grey/purple. I loved the shade in the bottle and once it was on, but hated the wear-ability. Two coats of polish and a topcoat typically allow me to have 3-4 days of no maintenance nails. By the end of the first day, the polish had chipped, streaked and worn off. That night I added another layer of color and another layer of topcoat. The next day, the same scenario. I use it time to time and make sure I have no major expectations…

So here we are with the free box and invitation to become a Maven – I made sure to hook my friend Laura up with the referral credit and hit the complete transaction button. A few days later, I received this very attractive package in the mail:

This is the Classic with a Twist which includes 2 polishes (Zora and Myrtle), Luxe Repair Skin Serum and gift of a cute reusable black and pink Julep shopping bag. With the FREE BOX code, I only had to pay the$3.95 shipping cost. That’s an incredible deal considering each polish is $14 ($11.20 for Mavens) and the serum is listed at $28 ($22.40 for Mavens).

I went straight for Zora, a pearl-like gloss with a touch of shimmer. The first coat was streaky, but the sheer color was very pretty. The second coat evened out the streaks and even though I waited about 10 min between coats, but it took forever for the second coat to dry. A couple fingers bubbled and by the end of 24 hours, some of the color started to wear off.

There are a lot of people who love and swear by this brand. Sadly, I cannot justify the price for the product. I do, however, look forward to trying some of the other skin care products and lotions that they offer. If you are interested in signing up for Julep, please feel free to use my referral code and don’t forget the FREE BOX code to get your first subscription box free.
