A New Day

Taking a look at all of the things I've been missing

Reader questions

on November 17, 2013

First of all, thank you all so much! This little blog hit 200+ views today!

Over the last couple weeks, I’ve had a couple of great questions that I thought I would put up here and share with everyone.

Question 1:

Where can I find info on cruelty-free and info on toxins in my products?

My go-to source for information is the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics – you can find out information about some of the worst offenders in the industry and national initiatives to make companies accountable for unsafe products. There is also info on legislation and advocacy. Another great resource in the National Organization for Women – this has a much broader focus on the topics of equality (marriage, workplace, etc.) but a emphasis on the Love Your Body Campaign and discussions on standards of beauty.

Question 2:

And I love my friend Jen for asking this – Why not tell me why I should use the product? What is a BB cream and why do I need it?

That’s not up to me decide. I just try it and tell you about it. I’m not convinced a BB cream is the best thing on the planet. Beauty balms are perfect if you want a multi-purpose product to act as a foundation, moisturizer, SPF and primer. Here is a great link to an Allure article with info for different types:  http://www.allure.com/beauty-products/skin/2012/bb-cream#slide=1  Since I was looking for something new, I just happened to find a whole bunch of options. For the record, I’m still using my tinted moisturizer. 🙂
